The firm has maintained an office in nearby Burlington, Massachusetts for over 35 years, opened an office in New York City in 2004, opened an office in Chicago in 2006, and opened an office in New Jersey in 2012.
Riemer & Braunstein celebrated its 80th year of practice in 2013. Throughout our history, we have maintained a tradition of dedication to community involvement as well as exceptional service to the legal profession. Members of the firm are active in professional organizations, lecture and participate in seminars throughout the country in their areas of special interest, and hold leadership positions in professional, religious, charitable, educational, and community groups.
Riemer & Braunstein traces its roots back to 1922, when Ralph Cohn opened a law practice in Boston. In 1929 Bernard A. Riemer went to work for him, and in 1933 the two men formed the partnership of Cohn and Riemer. Ten years later, the firm became Cohn, Riemer & Pollack. In 1979 the firm changed its name to Riemer & Braunstein, and 20 years later it became a limited liability partnership.
Ralph Cohn and Bernard A. Riemer were the driving forces behind the firm for more than 30 years. Although not a family firm any longer, Riemer & Braunstein includes several descendants of the founders. Stanley J. Riemer, the son of Bernard A. Riemer, has served as managing partner since the late 1970s and is the longest continuously serving managing partner in any major Boston-based firm.
Today, the firm's attorneys and support staff maintain a strong belief in the importance of providing the highest quality of service to our clients. They also carry on the firm's long-standing tradition of service to the legal profession and to the community by serving on the boards of educational and professional organizations and by volunteering their time to charitable groups throughout the area. The firm has been named one of Greater Boston's top corporate contributors by The Boston Business Journal in 2016 and each of the preceding ten years.
