Harold was an attorney and a partner at Riemer & Braunstein
LLP from 1973 until his untimely death as a result of a bicycling
accident in Italy in 2004. He was a very important part of the
second generation of lawyers who transformed the firm starting in
the early 1970's and continuing into this decade. Harold and Stanley Riemer started the firm's Burlington office
in 1973. For over 30 years, Harold, as the managing partner of that
office, and others, built that office into a suburban practice that
has become highly successful and respected in the real estate,
business, and banking communities. A number of the firm's current
partners spent months or years in Burlington with Harold as a
mentor. One of those partners is now the chairperson of our banking
and finance practice area. Two others - - Bob Buckley and Mark
Vaughan - - were in practice with Harold in Burlington and today
form the nucleus of the firm's renowned suburban real estate
development practice. Harold's imprint is on many projects in the North suburban area.
The Metro North Corporate Center in Woburn and campus developments
for Sun Micro Systems, Oracle, and Genuity are among them, as are
many highly visible and successful retail and multi-family
residential projects. Much of the outstanding economic development
and increased tax base in the Burlington area has been due to the
efforts of Harold and his partners in Burlington. Harold considered Burlington his home and refused development
projects which he felt were bad for the Town. He was a graduate of
Burlington High School, Boston University, and Boston College Law
School, and spent his entire professional career in the Town. He
held many leadership positions in Town organizations and, among
others, was president of the Burlington Business Roundtable for a
number of years. He was also active in numerous other civic and
charitable activities. After his death, the Burlington Community
Scholarship Foundation renamed its annual scholarship in his
memory. Riemer & Braunstein continues to support that
scholarship fund, the Burlington Business Roundtable Scholarship
established in his memory, and other civic and charitable
activities in Burlington as part of honoring Harold's commitment to
the Town. The firm, now in its fourth decade of continuous service to the
Burlington and North suburban area, has dramatically expanded the
reach of its suburban practice to include major development
projects throughout the Route 128 and 495 corridors. © Copyright 2008 Riemer & Braunstein LLP
