Paul practices in the areas of corporate finance, business, and real estate law, and has extensive experience in problem loan resolution and debt restructuring. He concentrates on representing lenders in financing transactions and regularly handles a wide range of lending transactions for institutional clients. Paul has represented the agent in multi-tender project finance, retail finance and real estate transactions on both a regional and national basis.

In November 2000, Paul was first elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 8th Middlesex District. He won re-election in November 2002 for a second term. As a state representative, Paul was praised by Gov. Jane Swift and House Speaker Thomas Finneran for his role in the passage of the revised Uniform Commercial Code. He also was instrumental in the effort to revise and update the business corporation, limited liability company, and trademark statutes in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition, Paul was the lead sponsor of nationally recognized anti-terrorism legislation that was enacted in 2002.
