Prior to joining the firm, Jeff spent six years at Eurohypo AG, New York Branch. Jeff's most recent primary responsibilities included coordinating both the legal representation and business aspects of real estate workouts and restructurings, with direct involvement in troubled loans aggregating more than $6 billion. He has served as the lead negotiator for the restructuring/foreclosure of multi-tranched mortgage loans, corporate loans to REITs or other holding companies, and mezzanine loans for hotels, retail properties, condominium properties, office properties, land, corporate facilities, and construction loans. Jeff is well known for his ability to successfully represent bank groups ranging from several lenders to over 150 lenders. Jeff's extensive experience with troubled loans has given him both the legal and business skills necessary to quickly evaluate troubled loans and develop and implement strategies to minimize risks and maximize recovery. Jeff's recent experience at Eurohypo, combined with his prior experience at Shearman & Sterling and in the construction and development industry for more than 10 years, provides him with a unique skill set in this economy. Jeff is not only a skilled legal practitioner, but also has the ability to understand what needs to be done to manage failed projects; he has the experience when handling a challenging construction loan workout to deal directly and effectively with not only the developer, but construction managers, hotel managers, architects, general contractors, city inspectors and officials, and court appointed receivers or referees.

Jeff's responsibilities at Eurohypo also included involvement in every aspect of structuring and closing real estate finance transactions, including legal structuring and drafting of the term sheet, working directly with credit officers to address particular concerns, and drafting and negotiating loan documents. Jeff was primarily responsible for developing Eurohypo's syndicated loan documentation programs, including senior secured term loans, construction loans, corporate loans, mezzanine loans, co-lender agreements, and intercreditor agreements. While at Eurohypo, Jeff handled over $20 billion of loans, most in the lead agent role, for all types of properties: office buildings, hotels, resort hotels, condominium projects, condominium hotels, shopping centers, residential properties, and land development. Jeff served as both the Head of Transaction Operations and the Co-Head of Transaction Operations/Capital Markets. In addition to his work on balance sheet/syndicated loans, Jeff has also handled the structuring, closing and sale of several billion dollars of CMBS loans.
