Stanley is the managing partner and chairman of the executive committee of the firm. In those capacities he is responsible for both practice and administrative management. Stanley has served as managing partner since the late 1970s and is the longest continuously serving managing partner in any major Boston firm.

Stanley's 30-plus years of practice have been mostly centered in the finance and workout areas of the firm's practice. In those respects, he has handled complex and multi-faceted lending and problem loan matters in New England and across the country.

In recent years, Stanley has devoted nearly all of his time to management, as the needs of the firm have developed and the complexities of the practice of law have required.
