Kevin has been working continuously with Riemer & Braunstein LLP since 1987 and was a senior partner for over nine years. Currently, he works as Of Counsel to the firm. He continues to bring to the firm a variety of skills and experiences that are integral to the firm's corporate, real estate and finance practices.

Kevin worked several years before joining Riemer & Braunstein LLP as counsel to variety of large pension and health and welfare funds where he gained significant experience in the employee benefits field. He has been counsel to various employee benefit funds in numerous reported court decisions addressing various aspects of ERISA. At Riemer & Braunstein LLP part of Kevin's diverse business practice includes counseling clients with respect to ERISA and related issues.

Kevin also devoted five years as General Counsel to a variety of businesses in the regional commercial real estate development and construction industry. In this role he gained valuable insights into the workings of commercial and residential real estate development and construction companies and many of the legal and practical issues they face. He also gained substantial experience in negotiating real estate development agreements, construction contracts, as well as project planning, and resolving disputes arising during the course of large commercial and residential projects.

Kevin currently focuses on general business representation. He acts as outside general counsel to a number of companies. He has considerable experience in all legal facets of business operations, including real estate joint ventures and private equity transaction, employment law, general corporate representation, business litigation, corporate finance, construction law and real estate law, business acquisitions and sales and related transactions, and handling of stockholder, trust and partnership disputes. Kevin has leveraged his practical and legal experience to help the firm provide its many clients with a full service solution to their everyday business issues. Kevin's pragmatic approach to corporate representation focuses on dispute avoidance through careful planning and early intervention to seek to avoid costly litigation or, where it is unavoidable, to minimize its impact on the firm's business clients.

Representative Work

  • Representation of real estate companies in the acquisition and sale of commercial and multi-family residential properties, including structuring and negotiating joint ventures, preferred equity and similar arrangements (recent deals ranging up to $100M);
  • Counsel to many real estate developers and general contractors in successfully developing commercial real estate and mixed use developments throughout New England;
  • Negotiating and drafting business acquisition or sale agreements, as well as general business agreements, including asset purchase and stock purchase agreements, severance agreements, sales contracts;
  • Counsel to a variety of businesses in connection with general corporate, finance and employment matters;
  • Counsel to construction companies, real estate developers, and utilities in connection with substantial claims associated with construction and engineering issues, including acting as lead counsel in associated litigations and arbitrations.
